I belong in Provincetown.

As a child, I vacationed with my parents every some. They always let me pick our vaction destination. One year, I must have been about 12, I chose Cape Cod. Somehow we ended up in Sandwich. It was one of the best vacations we ever had, and returned there numerous times. We'd always take a ride up to Provincetown. In the fall of 2000, my father became ill and I cared for him in my home until his death. We spent many hours recalling various vactions and often found ourselves recounting our trips to the Cape and driving route 6A to Provincetown.

After my dad passed away, I decided to make that drive again.... and stay in Provincetown this time. That was the summer of 2001. I brought my 10 year old son with me and together, we revisited many of the places I had first discovered with my parents. My son and I have returned to Provincetown every summer since then. We'll be there again for a much too short week starting July 31st. During that week, the first thing I'll see when I open my eyes is the sun coming up over Cape Cod Bay.

I'll go downstairs and get my cup of tea and enjoy it on the deck while I'm checking out the morning activies on and around McMillan Pier. After that, I'll be down on the beach, walking and filling my pockets with shells and stones (my little treasures) that I'll cart back to Ohio to keep me company until my return again the following summer. I know one of these years I'll just stay forever. I belong in Provincetown. I am Provincetown too.
