Provincetown is a heaven for kids! Great summer vacation for families to spend lots of time on our gorgeous beaches... . . . . . . . Race Point Beach... in the background you can see Old Harbor Life-Saving Station's built in Chatham in 1897. The station was operated by the U.S. Coast Guard, and its precurser the U.S. Life-Saving Service, until it was decommissioned in July 1944. The building was later obtained by the National Park Service, and in November 1977, it was moved by barge to Provincetown. In summer, breeches buoy rescue re-enactments are conducted on the grounds on Thursday evenings. . . . . . . . North Truro Beaches... pleasant surprise!Truro has some incredible beaches on the Cape Cod Bay side and also on the Atlantic Ocean side. This photograph was taken on the Beach Point (Route 6A, just before Provincetown), famous for rows of cottages right on the water edge.
