Miss Ellie's Spirit Soars!
For the past 30 years I have been coming to Provincetown for both study and pleasure. Being a Visual Artist can make ones vision more accute but when it came to Miss Ellie one did not need a keen sense of sight to see that she was a beacon of light shining down on everyone she encountered. She showed us that TRUE JOY comes from being the person that most of us spend a life time searching for.
The hair on my neck always stood up when Miss Ellie plugged in her sound system because I knew I was in store for an all encompassing visual and audio experience. The crowds would gather infront of the Town Hall, our girl's make shift stage, watching a unique exhibit of talent standing neck to neck to a mesmerized gathering of delirious diversity. Maybe this was imagined but I swear Miss Ellie's hem line got shorter each season.
P Town's girl was a towering example of the open armed embrace that Province Town offers to anyone who steps foot on Commercial Street. Miss Ellie will be greatly missed and remembered for the great impact she had on our small village at the tip of the Cape.
