Wednesday night before Thanksgiving Day, we all gather at the foot of the Monument for the Lighting Celebration. The tradition was started by the Provincetown Chamber of Commerce, with help from local electricians and volunteers assembling thousands of lights on electric wires from the base of the Monument all the way to the top. Today the event is sponsored by many local businesses and individuals, and in the wintery cold, everybody thanks the Provincetown Business Guild for their delicious cookies and hot cider.
